This Monday, I have a special #MCM. I’d like to give an enormous shout out to an amazing guy. Travis Neilson is a designer and developer working in Silicon Valley. He produces free, lengthy and in-depth tutorial videos on his YouTube channel called DevTips which focuses on providing developer training to graphic designers. He is extremely generous with his time for very little in return. I really appreciate his work and dedication to sharing knowledge and helping young people succeed. I hope that any young designer interested in learning to code will utilize his videos as much as possible and that he continues to keep up the great work.
Using Travis’ YouTube tutorials, I was able to create this entire website from scratch using Jekyll. Not only did he teach me a ton of technical code skills, but I learned how to use design thinking in the digital world. I now know a huge amount about user experience design and developer processes. Now, I not only know what I want on my website, I know what my audience wants. I know what to do after I’ve developed interesting content and how to get an audience involved. If you need to learn more hacking, subscribe to his videos!
